Introducing the Artful Painter Podcast

I’m pleased to introduce a new podcast called The Artful Painter. Each episode is a collection of art lessons by artists for artists, collectors, and people who enjoy art.

I interview established artists as well as share my own thoughts on the process of learning to paint. The show covers fundamental and advanced skills in painting using oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, and all the mediums, substrates, and tools used in creating beautiful paintings and drawings. You will learn from other artists the skills you need to become a better painter - both in the studio and outdoors as a plein air painter.

The first two episodes feature members of the Plein Air Painters of America group. The premiere episode of the Artful Painter features mountain, landscape, and wildlife painter Ralph Oberg. The second episode features Matt Smith - the president of the Plein Air Painters of America. He describes his painting style as impressionistic naturalism. His love of the outdoors is revealed in his beautiful plein air and in-studio paintings. I have the privilege of counting both Ralph Oberg and Matt Smith as mentors and workshop instructors.

The podcast is currently available on Apple Podcasts and should be available soon in Google Podcasts and other podcast distribution networks. Please subscribe so you don’t miss any future episodes. Please help get the word out about the show to your artist and art loving friends!
