Bryan Mark Taylor is no stranger to many outdoor painters. He’s the inventor of the outdoor painting system STRADA Easel. He’s a remarkably versatile painter adept at painting landscapes, urban and architectural scenes, the still life, and highly imaginative scenes with a science fiction flare. Bryan’s deep love of travel moves him to paint evocative images full of mystery, awe, and reverence for the people and landscapes he experiences and carefully observes.

Bryan had a chance encounter with another lover of art – Keith Huang – that would lead to another venture. Born and raised in Taiwan, Keith later moved to the United States and studied with fine art portrait painter Del Parson. But then Keith made a dramatic decision to switch from fine arts to accounting. He earned an accounting degree in 2011 and honed his business skills in corporate America.

However, his love of art was never far off. Keith and Bryan immediately clicked, and thus was born Sentient Academy. Their vision for Sentient Academy is to bring affordable, top-quality art education to everyone who has the desire to learn. They both want to provide more than just online painting courses. They want to provide a rich community where artists can receive constructive feedback and encouragement. They also want to fill the large void of the lack of art business education that traditional universities, schools, and even other online art education sources neglect. Bryan and Keith hope to be a catalyst for raising up a new generation of amazing artists for the 21st century.

This episode of the Artful Painter marks a new chapter in the production of this podcast. This episode features video – you can see Bryan, Keith and myself as we talk. The video version is available on YouTube. The audio-only version is still available in your favorite podcast listening app. I want to produce more episodes with video since art is, well, such a visual medium. Producing video is more difficult and time-consuming. Recording video also puts extra pressure on the guest. I’ll continue experimenting with producing a video edition for a while before I commit to producing them regularly. Please let me know what you think of a video version of the Artful Painter.
